MA Spirituality, Ecology and Mental Health
BSc Ecology and Conservation
Certified Sylvotherapy Practitioner
My name is Holly, I am a certified Sylvotheraphy Practitioner (forest bathing therapy, 'Shinrin-Yoku' as originating in Japan) who offers nature based workshops in the UK. My workshops are heavily grounded in scientific theory, providing nature education and connection, guiding mindfulness practices and promoting physical, mental and spiritual well being.
Ensuring my practices are routed in proven scientific theory, I draw on a range of published academic literature and experience working with others to design my workshops including subjects such as Ecology, Botany, Psychology and Counselling, Spirutuality etc. Having spent a lot of time travelling through Asia and researching spiritual and philosophical teachings from around the world, I enjoy introducing those at home in the UK to new worldviews. I believe many ancient and indigenous teachings can be used to address the struggles we all face in the modern west- namely a lot of stress, anxiety and work related health issues. I often include a teaching section in my workshops which explains the science behind the practices and the benefits they offer. To read more about the benefits of forest bathing specifically, please see the 'Sylvotherpay' tab here on my website! I also am currently publishing my own academic work and blogs so you can read about many of the other practices and teachings in more detail.
I am currently studying my Master's degree in Spirituality, Ecology and Mental Health at Buckinghamshire New University, having previously graduated from the University of Brighton with a BSc in Ecology and Conservation. Between my studies I have worked across multiple industries such as Environmental Consultancy, Laboratory Work, and in various Conservation projects and organisations. These include Operation Wallacea as a Habitat Survey leader in Krka National Park Croatia, teaching students how to conduct conservation research in the field and supporting them on our research site.
I certified as a Sylvotherapy Practitioner in 2025 through a course accredited by CPD Centre of Excellence, NCCAP, CMA and IPHM, and have since been working as a forest bathing guide, hosting nature based workshops to help people spend valuable time outdoors and rebuild their relationship with the natural world.
I am passionate about my own relationship with the nature, understanding how it affects my health and well being, and how I can live in better alignment with nature whilst navigating the modern western world. I aim to guide others on their own journey's back into the wild, educate you on the science behind our practices, promote healing and wellbeing in nature and spend meaningful time with a community of like minded people.
I am a naturally caring, attentive and empathic individual with an ability to hold workshops with care and sensitivity towards others. Nature is for everyone and she does not judge; my workshops are safe space for anyone to take part, and suitable for everyone no matter your age or background :)
I hope to see you at one of my workshops!
